An astute and careful reader pondered the obituary that we posted two days ago, purportedly written by an HR manager in the Milwaukee area, who, we wrote, “was moved enough by the discussion to compose a touching obituary on the passing of his friend, Common Sense.”

Our new friend just informed us:

“I am a regular reader of your blog through several LinkedIn groups.  After reading the obituary for Common Sense, I Googled the words.  I learned that the Milwaukee HR manager was not the author.   http://www.snopes.com/politics/soapbox/commonsense.asp.

Instead, Lori Borgman first published it in the Indianapolis Star in 1998.  http://www.loriborgman.com/the-death-of-common-sense.php.

The words appear to have changed over time, but the sentiments have not.   Gotta love the Internet.”

Oh well — that will teach us!
